Recently, we — Lisa, Silvia, and Ljuba, a team from Estonia — travelled to sunny Greece, to a small village called Eani to participate in a training course titled “Eat Well, Live Well.” The project was about healthy eating and quality of life, and took place near the town of Kozani, and though this village was tiny, we enjoyed it a lot!
Eani is definitely a place to slow down. It is surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and a warm, welcoming vibe. After the city life, the calm and quiet here felt magical. The slower pace immediately set the mood, reminding us to pause, listen to ourselves, and focus on our well-being.
The main topic of the training course focused on how nutrition affects the quality of life. We all know that food plays an essential role in our health, but in this project we also explored psychological and mindful aspects of nutrition, mental health, and even ways to incorporate physical activities that we could truly enjoy. Throughout the week, we took part in workshops, lectures, and practical sessions that helped each of us rethink our approach to nutrition and lifestyle in general. We had time to learn, rest, and explore the surrounding area.
Each of us tried our hand at cooking, discovering new and healthy recipes. For example, we learned how to prepare dishes using fresh ingredients like vegetables, greens, and cheeses. We also had sessions on mindful eating, which taught us how to listen to our bodies and understand their needs. It was empowering to realize this wasn’t just theory but something we could start practicing right away.
There were many participants from different countries, and it was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the traditions and habits of other cultures. We bonded, shared experiences, and supported each other. This training course gave each of us not only knowledge but also support and new international friends!
We also organized workshops for the local youth and even visited a local school. We held workshops focused on raising awareness about critical health issues like obesity, chronic diseases, diabetes, and, of course, opportunities of Erasmus+. Engaging with the young people of Eani was inspiring - they were curious, engaged, and eager to learn how small changes could make a big difference in their daily lives.
This project reminded us of the importance of mindful eating and that caring for our bodies is not a temporary hobby but a way of life. We realized that healthy eating is not about dieting; it’s about balance, self-love, and taking responsibility for our health. Returning home, we plan to incorporate what we’ve learned into our everyday lives and share it with those around us.
Also one of the biggest takeaways from this experience was learning how to bring these insights into our own communities and youth work. We didn’t just learn the theory; we practiced how to apply these principles in real-life settings. Now, we feel prepared to share what we’ve learned with others, using these tools to help young people and those around us build healthier, more balanced lives.
